Serpentine stone Mannumi Shaqu Cape Dorset 6x6x3" $925 Shaqu was a prominent early sculptor from Cape Dorset. Mannumi was born in 1917 in Cape Dorset and his work is featured in several Canadian Museum Collections. One of his earlier mother and child pieces was presented to Queen Elizabeth (princess at the time) in 1951 as the first official Inuit piece given as a gift. In his later years, he unfortunately lost his sight but continued to carve, using the feel of the stone as his guidance.
